Relaxing IPhone Apps to Help Relieve Stress

Relaxing IPhone Apps to Help Relieve Stress

With today's fast paced lifestyle, stress seems to be becoming more and more common. Whether it is stress over money, family issues or work, almost everyone feels the strain at some point. There are many techniques used to handle stress, but if you are looking for a quick fix, why not turn to your iPhone for support? There really are apps for everything now and while these relaxing iPhone apps won't be suitable for severe cases, they will certainly help to calm you down from the stresses of daily life. Take a little time out to browse through them and you will soon feel the tension ebbing away! Relaxing iPhone Apps to Help Relieve Stress

Gratitude Rock A Journal of Positive Thoughts (1.19)

Gratitude Rock is a very relaxing iPhone app which is a little bit like an iPhone diary. The idea of it is to write in it every day about the things you are grateful for, however big or small. In times of high stress you can look back at your previous entries and remind yourself of all the things you are lucky to have. An added bonus is that this app is passcode protected so if you leave your phone somewhere, nobody will be able to access your private thoughts. Gratitude Rock also comes with sound effects, background images and fonts which you can change depending on your mood at the time. The calming sound of the ocean can be turned on or off, but keeping it on really does help to ease any stress you are feeling. The background images for your journal are mostly sea themed, but there are a few blank ones and you can also add your own photos as a background if you so wish.

I have found this app exceptionally useful on days when my mood is a bit low. It reminds me to focus on the things I have and the people who are important to me. It really does give you a bit of a boost to look back at past memories too.

iZen Garden 2 (2.39)

iZen Garden is your very own iPhone Japanese garden! You can customize it any way you like, and choose from a huge array of different elements to place inside. You begin by choosing the colour of the sand for your garden, then filling it with a variety of pretty things including colourful butterflies, rocks, leaves, water features and flowers. You can move the elements around and resize them until you have the perfect tranquil garden. While you work, you can also choose from many different sound effects to add to the stress relieving vibe. From sounds of the ocean to gently chiming bells and thunderstorms to babbling brooks, there will always be something on the list to help calm you. You can also write in the sand if that is what you feel like doing and if you change your mind, about what you have written, just shake the phone and the sand will clear, leaving your elements in place! Once you have created your masterpiece, you can share it with your friends via Facebook, Twitter or email so you can spread the zen love!

This really is one of the most relaxing iPhone apps around at the moment. From the moment you begin modelling your garden, your mind seems to stop thinking about everything else and by the time you have finished, your worries will seem much further away!

Bubble Machine (Free)

This app is really quite silly, but relaxing nonetheless. It is also probably best used only in the privacy of your own home or people might wonder what you are doing! With Bubble Machine, your iPhone turns into a bubble blower. To make it work, blow into the microphone at the bottom of the phone, and bubbles will be blown across your screen! The background for the bubbles is a clear blue sky but there is "sunlight" shining down from the top so the bubbles sparkle as they float. If you blow for long enough, the bubbles become really huge and there is even more fun in the fact that you can pop them too!

As mentioned, this one can really only be used when you aren't out in public, but it is quite therapeutic. Granted, if you have a short attention span it probably won't entertain you for long, but for a free iPhone app, it is quite good for relaxing.

Koi Pond (59p)

If you are the type of person who could watch fish swimming around for hours, you will love Koi Pond. This is one of the easier to use relaxing iPhone apps, but still as effective as the more expensive ones. With this app, you are given a clear pond. You can change the colour of the water, the amount of fish and the amount of lily pads which float around. The water has a very gentle ripple to it, so even just watching that alone is quite calming. Tapping the iPod screen makes bigger ripples and the fish will swim around them. If you ripple the water too much, the fish will all hide away off screen but they come back when it is calm again. Koi Pond also has some lovely effects. You can make it rain, add the sound of birds, wind, frogs and butterflies but you don't have to have them all on or all off. You can pick and choose. There is also a sleep tim

Silent Island Relaxation Lite (Free)

The lite version of Silent Island may be enough for some people, though there is a paid version if you need more variety. The lite version is simple a picture of a mountain on an island surrounded by beautiful blue water. The sound effects are a mix of relaxing music and sounds of nature which play for different lengths of time. If you don't stop the music yourself, you can just close the app and the music will keep on playing until it has finished. This makes it really good for helping you drift off to sleep. Other features included in the free version of Silent Island are a slideshow which looks all around the island and a video of ice floating around in water.

Although ice floating in water sounds terribly boring, when combined with the soothing music, it is one of the most relaxing things I have ever watched in my life! The music is really what makes this app so fantastic. It is so calming that that you can really feel all of your stresses leaving you. If you enjoy the app, it may be worth the money to upgrade to the full version.

As with all medical problems, it is important to see a doctor if the symptoms are becoming too much for you to handle. However, if you just need a quick fix to calm your frayed nerves, these relaxing iPhone apps may well do the job. Not all of them will work for everyone, but of all of the apps I searched through, these were the ones I found most useful. Try them out and hopefully you will feel much more at ease too!
